Austin Chronicle Tribute to Jack Jackson

The Austin Chronicle has published a tribute to my friend Jack Jackson. Arts editor Robert Faires started putting this together shortly after Jack’s passing earlier this summer. I contributed the cover. Margaret Moser, Chronicle writer and long-time friend of Jack, wrote the main article. Other contributors are Jack’s son Sam, Guy Juke, Kerry Awn, Scout Stormcloud, and Mariann G. Wizard. The Chronicle is available free throughout the Austin area, and is available as a PDF download at AustinChronicle.com.

Replay the Blue Rose Report

If you missed the live webcast of the Blue Rose Report, you can hear it on my podcast page. GO HERE TO LISTEN

Join Me Tonight on the Blue Rose Report

Tonight at 8 pm CST I’ll be the guest on the first edition of SMiles Lewis’ new live call-in show, The Blue Rose Report. We'll be discussing the recent 40th anniversary of the UT Tower shootings of 1966, and how this event might relate to Austin's often-overlooked Dark Side: the serial killings of the 1880s and allegations of a sinister conspiracy behind the Yogurt Shop Murders of 1991. We’ll also touch on serial killer Henry Lee Lucas’ claims of affiliation with an organization called the Hand of Death and its possible connection to the Matamoros cult murders of 1989 and the ongoing Juarez Murder Mystery.

To learn more about the show, visit the Blue Rose Blog. To listen, GO HERE. After 8 pm CST you will see a LISTEN NOW Icon next to the show. Requires Windows Media Player to listen. The call-in number is (347) 996-3510.

UPDATE: Gitmo Guards Cruelly Abused by Their Captives

The Smoking Gun has published Dept. of Defense memos describing the horrible abuse suffered by our brave prison guards in Gitmo. I have read these memos and am horrified beyond words. The situation at Gitmo is much worse than previously thought. In addition to lizard tails and doo-doo, the guards have also been assailed by such deadly weapons as flip-flops and (I shudder to say it, but in the interest of journalistic truth, I must) pee-pee. Even worse, the guards have been subjected to extremely unkind words. For instance, they have been called vile names such as “donkey,” and on one occasion these menacing words were said: “You will have big problems.” Such cruelty on the part of prisoners is beyond my comprehension. What, oh what, is the world coming to? (LINK)
